At Politistica - CTR (Cultural Technology Resources) we weave old threads of stories back together. We read history through faded pigments, worn surfaces and crumbling stone. For us, conservation is more than just technical expertise. It is a mixture of feeling, knowledge and cultural responsibility.
We are a team of archaeologists, conservators, architects and engineers based in Greece, united by a love of cultural heritage and collaboration. Since 2000, we have worked on some of the most challenging and significant conservation projects across the country. Our approach combines scientific rigor with a deep sensitivity to the materials and their stories. Our mission is simple: to preserve the past in a way that keeps it relevant and alive.
Conservation is storytelling
Every monument, work of art or architectural detail has a story to tell. Some are visible at first glance. Others reveal themselves slowly, through careful examination and work. Often the most remarkable discoveries lie just beneath the surface: original layers, forgotten techniques or surprising interventions made a long time ago. We see it as our job to uncover these layers and protect them with respect.
This type of work requires more than just skill. It requires patience, curiosity and a genuine respect for the artifact and its history. Whether we are conserving a fresco, a sculpted lintel or a decorative ceiling, our goal is to understand what it still means today.
Rooted in science
Conservation has its roots in science. Before we begin any work, we take the time to examine, document and analyze it. We use advanced technologies , but we always combine them with a careful, hands-on approach.
Every surface has its own story. We look closely to distinguish between original materials and later additions, to identify damage that might not be visible at first glance, and to choose methods that preserve, rather than alter the identity of the object.
We believe in interdisciplinary collaboration. In many of our projects, we work with universities, cultural institutions and experts from different fields. Only through this teamwork can we meet the highest standards of care and accuracy.
The little things matter
Decorative motifs, carved patterns, traces of color. These details carry the character and craftsmanship of a bygone era. They tell us how people saw the world, expressed their beliefs and lived their daily lives.
That’s why we take our time. Conservation is not something to be rushed. From a simple plaster ornament to a large architectural feature, every element deserves focused attention and respect.
